Grevillea robusta – silky oak
DESCRIPTION: Tall fast-growing ornamental native tree, impressive in full flower. Elegant, slender conical silhouette. Deep golden flowers spring-summer, large ferny leaves all year round.

USE IN: Plant as a tall shade tree or feature tree that attracts wildlife. Timber useful for fine woodworking and the flowers for honey production.

LOCATION: Plant in well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Can be grown as a foliage pot plant when young. Native to QLD and NSW rainforests, but will thrive across much of Australia.

CARE: Maintenance free once established. Mulch and water regularly until the plants are established, usually 12 weeks. Fertilise with a slow release natural fertiliser in spring. Drought tolerant and frost hardy once it has developed a woody trunk.

HEIGHT:10-15m in gardens. Can grow to 30m in the rainforest.
